The mission of the Mattituck Park District is to maintain and enhance all park district areas within the district for residential usage, while maintaining the rural character of the community and the preservation of open space. The district is comprised of about 63 acres consisting of wetlands, beaches, a boat launch, parkland, lakes, a playground, and athletic fields.
The Mattituck Park District parks and beaches are the private property of the residents who live within the Park District, which includes parts of Laurel. Residents and guest use of park facilities are subject to the rules and regulations set forth by the Commissioners.
The Mattituck Park District Commissioners hold work sessions at 6:30PM at Veterans Park the first Tuesday of each month. Limited comments are accepted related to the subject discussed. Regular meetings are held 7PM the following Wednesday of each month at Veterans Park.
The election of Commissioner takes place every year at the November meeting. Each term is for three years. The Treasurer vote takes place every three years.
2010-2011 Improvements
- New groins, upgraded ballfield at Peconic Bay Beach/Ballfield (MYC).
- New bulkhead at Love Lane Dock.
- Completed the new Community Room and kitchen for residents use for gatherings.

Q: Where is the district office located and what are the hours?
A:The office is located at Veterans Beach at 11280 Peconic Bay Blvd. and at the terminus of Bay Ave. From the west, travel along Main Rd. and turn right onto Bay Ave. Follow the road to the water (Peconic Bay). From the East, take Main Rd and turn left onto Bay Ave. and follow it to the water (Peconic Bay). The District Office hours vary according to the seasons. During the summer the office is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in the morning through part of the afternoon.
Q: How do I rent a facility?
A: All Mattituck Park District residents can rent a facility. Call the office and the clerk will be happy to assist you with bookings for picnics, fundraisers, parties, reunions, etc.
Q: I don't live in Mattituck Park District area but would like to use the beach facilities at Veterans Park or Breakwater Park. Is it possible?
A: The life guarded beaches are available for non-residents on a daily basis. Guest Passes are available from the beach attendant at the beach gate for $15/car.
Q: What documentation do I need to obtain a seasonal pass?
A: You will need to show a driver's license that is registered to a Mattituck Park District resident.
Passes for residents cost $5 season pass (or $10/2 yr).
Q: How do I sign my children up for swimming lessons?
A: Southold Recreation Dept. gives swimming lessons at Veterans Park open to all Southold residents. Contact Southold Recreation Center for registration information.

Q: I am a Mattituck Park District resident. How do I obtain a boat ramp key and pass?
A: Ramp keys are available from the Veterans Park Clerk at the office. The boating season begins on May 1st and runs through October.
Q: When are the beaches open and staffed with lifeguards and attendants?
A: Veterans Park and Breakwater Park beaches are open weekends beginning on Memorial Day and are staffed each weekend till the end of June. After that, they are staffed with attendants and lifeguards every day until Labor Day.
